Every member of the credit union who is at least 18 years of age is eligible and encouraged to vote in the board of directors’ election.
The election will open March 11, 2025, and will close on April 10, 2025.
There will not be any nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting. Nominees by petition are required to submit to the President / CEO a statement of qualifications and biographical data with a petition signed by 100 members before March 6, 2025.
There are two seats up for election in 2025. Board members will be elected to a term of three years. Election results will be shared at the Annual Meeting. The nominating committee of HFCU has nominated the two individuals below to appear on the election ballot.

Hancock Federal Credit Union (HFCU) is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2025 board of directors election.
The board is made up of eight directors, each serving a three year term.
Directors are elected to represent and protect the interests of the members by setting the vision, approving policies and governing the overall activity of
HFCU management.The Board derives its authority from the members and the bylaws, therefore the Directors should act as a board and not as
individuals in carrying out such authority.

Heidi Rupp
Heidi is seeking her 2nd term as a member of HFCU’s Board of Directors. She currently serves on the Personnel Committee.
Heidi graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Cleveland State University with an MBA in Business Management. She is a Senior Account Executive with UIS Insurance. Previously she owned HSR Insurance Agency LLC in Findlay and has been a licensed health insurance agent for 28 years.
Heidi is a member of Flag City Morning Rotary. She previously served on the leadership team at College First Church of God and on the Youth for Christ Board. Heidi enjoys volunteering as a board member because her experiences and leadership as a business owner provide helpful prospective to HFCU.
Ben Sapp
Ben is seeking his 2nd term as a member of HFCU’s Board of Directors. He currently serves a Chairperson and on the Personnel Committee.
Ben is the Director of the Mazza Museum. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts degree with emphasis in Children’s Literature, both from the University of Findlay. Ben also teaches classes at UF and provides ongoing professional development workshops.
Ben currently serves on several boards including the Christian Clearing House, Arts & Heritage Council, Macklin Intergeneration Institute, Toledo Area Cultural Leaders. In the past he has also served with the Performing Arts Center, Arts Partnership, Community Visitors Bureau and Hancock Historical Museum.
Ben wants to volunteer as a board member of HFCU because he is interested in the operations of the credit union. He feels his current responsibilities of writing policy, approving budgets, managing endowments, and serving on committees to hire staff would bring valued knowledge to the credit union.

Attendance Expectation:
Board members are expected to attend all regular and special board meetings. If aboard member fails to attend regular meetings for three consecutive months, or any four months in a calendar year, that are not excused by the Board of Directors, that board member’s seat may be declared vacant by the board.
The Supervisory Committee meets quarterly and members are appointed by the board for the primary purpose of assuring HFCU is operating in a
safe and sound manner. The committee sees that an annual audit is performed by an outside CPA firm and also performs a review of internal audit functions completed by staff members.
- Work with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board to develop objectives and goals for the credit union, including strategic plans.
- Make sure the credit union adheres to pertinent laws, regulations, and sound business practices.
- Make sure the credit union maintains sound financial conditions and that the credit union’s assets are protected against unauthorized or illegal acts.
- Ensure that operational policies are developed and then approve them for all credit union programs and activities. Review polices and bylaws on a regular basis and update as necessary.
- Approve the credit union’s budget.
- Designate depositories, authorize borrowing and investing, provide for bonding and other security factors.
- Approve interest rates and dividends or approve policies that allow and guide management in doing so.
- Appoint loan officers.
- Define the scope of the Chief Executive Officer’s job, hire someone to fill the position, and review their progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Conduct an annual meeting for membership.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Former employees and their immediate family members need to have been absent or retired from HFCU for a period of 5 years prior to running for the Board.
- Must be bondable by the HFCU’s fidelity bond insurance company.
- Willingness to serve HFCU’s membership.
- Ability to comprehend and learn basic business concepts and procedures.
- Knowledge of HFCU history and philosophy.
- Promote HFCU products and services within the community.
- Possess general skills in management, planning and budgeting.
- General knowledge of local, national and international economic conditions and their effect on HFCU.
- Willingness to give the time and effort necessary to perform the duties of a BOD.
