Our customized program is designed to service young adults ages 16-21.
Start Smart Packaged Services Include:
The Start Smart Saver Account: may be opened with a minimum $5.00 deposit up to the age of 18. At age 18 the minimum account balance increases to $25.00.
Start Smart Share Certificate: $100.00 minimum to open. May add in increments of $50.00 for a 60-month term.
Start Smart Checking: No minimum balance required. First 50 checks are free with the purchase of one box of checks.
Start Smart Debit/ATM Card: Available with 6 free anywhere ATM transactions.
Start Smart Auto Loan: This loan will allow a ¼ percent off your first car loan with HFCU. An additional ¼ percent may also be deducted if your payment is made through HFCU’s auto deduct program. A co-signer may be necessary based upon your age and credit history.
Scholarship Money!!! Your local chapter of credit unions, which includes HFCU, grants scholarships to students to help assist with paying college tuition expenses.
Start Smart Student Loans and Stafford Loans for college are available.
Start Smart VISA: Start building good credit now! Must meet eligibility requirements. There is no credit check and no annual fee and a $300.00 credit limit. Visit either HFCU location for details!!!
A one-hour Financial Responsibility Class will be required for anyone wishing to apply for a Start Smart VISA. Pre-registration is required.

Start Smart Discount Card: All Hancock Federal Credit Union members enrolled in the Start Smart Program (for 16-21 year olds) will receive a Start Smart Discount Card.
